I can’t think of a worse picture of an awesome view! All crooked, and capturing more of the house and truck below than of the view. Can’t always do much about the sun, except shooting the view at a different time. With views especially, your composition is everything and makes all the difference.

Either the ceiling in this room is really low, or that’s a bunk bed. Either case, I’d probably include less of the ceiling, and more of the room.

Reports indicate that the REALTOR® who shot this picture was not seriously injured as he fell over backwards after losing his balance aiming the camera too high. Client still baffled as to how this helps to sell her home.

I'm not a fan
Looks like this fairly pointless photo of mostly the ceiling and fan also has managed to capture a wall, overexposing it in the right of the frame. Always review your photos on the camera to ensure pictures like this don’t get posted on your listing!

There were about 10 or 15 versions of this same shot on the MLS® for a development, which means some well-intentioned photographer thought this was a good way to showcase the bathroom. I disagree. I would be more interested to see the sink/vanity and the floor, while still capturing the mirror, bathroom and lighting in the frame. The photographer has used a wide-angle lens and you’d easily fit it all in. I’m not sure why he or she focused on showing off the ceiling instead.

This huge bed appears to be crammed into a tiny bedroom. It’s probably not as bad as it looks, but the composition of this photo exacerbates the problem. Also, open the curtains and turn on the bedside lamps for a warmer, more inviting look.

Dark, cluttered and poorly composed are what get this gem to appear on this blog! Turning on a few lights and shooting away from the brightly lit window would take care of the dark part, but it is also the REALTOR®’s responsibility to counsel the client to tidy up a bit before pictures are taken.

If this was your home, and you were perhaps showing off the listing to a friend at work, would you not be embarrassed by photos like this? One of my followers on Twitter asked me the other day “why will sellers put up with bad marketing (crummy photos, poor description, etc.) from their agent??” I can’t answer that question, but I know I certainly wouldn’t put up with it.

Most certainly a hall of shame contender. There is just no excuse for a photo like this! In an age where you get instant gratification from shooting pictures on a digital camera and thus being able to instantly review them on-site, this just shouldn’t happen. We can’t tell a thing about this kitchen except that they have a white ceiling and some fancy track lighting.

Cookin' in the Dark
A particularly uninspiring photo of the living room/kitchen is made worse by not turning on the lights! This is so simple and I don’t know anyone who’s in that much of a rush that they don’t have time to turn the lights on!
